Residential
Laiana

Excessive steps and compartmentalized spaces caused this large São Paulo home from the 1950s to seem smaller. Not only was this inconvenience resolved, but the remodel design made the windows bigger and created larger openings to achieve a more open feel. Rooms were redistributed to create a terrace, outdoor area, and even a gym. The look is surprising, starting with the façade, which was given a stretch of glass blocks, making it more elegant while still preserving the privacy of the home’s residents. Upon entering, the path is lined by a large freijó wood shelf, an architectural element that goes from the entryway to the outdoor area. Outside is where the family most likes to have fun, enjoying the pool, deck, and outdoor shower in the shade of the fruit trees that were spared in the refurbishment.
